Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science
Students in grades 7-12 may choose to compete in the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS). Students select an area in science, math, engineering, or computer science, in which they would like to experiment. Students utilize the scientific method and conduct the experiment and analyze their data before drawing conclusions and creating a presentation. They present their findings at the Regional PJAS event held in February on the campus of Slippery Rock University to a panel of judges. The judges follow a rubric and award first, second, or third place awards to each student. Students who earn a first place award are invited to present at the state meeting held in May on the campus of Penn State University.
