Mock Trial
The Pennsylvania Mock Trial Program provides students with an engaging, hands-on opportunity to explore the legal system while developing essential academic and life skills. Through the study and simulation of real courtroom procedures, students take on the roles of attorneys, witnesses, and jurors, gaining a deeper understanding of the judicial process, constitutional principles, and the rule of law. Participation in Mock Trial strengthens critical thinking, analytical reading, public speaking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, while also building confidence and professionalism. Students learn to think on their feet, construct persuasive arguments based on evidence, and collaborate effectively under pressure—skills that benefit them not only in future academic pursuits and careers, but also as informed, responsible citizens.
The 2025-2026 season's case has our team delving deep into a medical malpractice case. Team members take on roles of lawyers and witnesses. Lawyers prepare opening and closing remarks and questions for cross examination as well as questions for their own witnesses. Our witnesses must portray their assigned witness and be ready to answer rapid fire questions from the opposing team.
Our team participates in a scrimmage each season in preparation of competition day. Lakeview's team will compete on January 29. The team will take on the role of prosecution for one trial and the defense for a second trial. Depending on the outcome of the day, there is an opportunity for additional competition at the regional and state level.
