Educational Field Trips
Educational field trips play a vital role in enriching student learning by extending classroom instruction into authentic, real-world experiences. At Lakeview, field trips are thoughtfully planned to align with science and history competitions, cultural enrichment, and career exploration opportunities, allowing students to apply their knowledge in meaningful and memorable ways. Students may participate in events such as Jr. Envirothon, Enviroquest, the History Bowl at the Heinz History Center, the Science Bowl at the Kamin Science Center, and the Eco Challenge at Phipps Conservatory, while also engaging in powerful cultural and experiential learning through live theatre at the Byham Theatre in Pittsburgh, a medical career exploration experience observing open-heart surgery at Allegheny General Hospital, and a cultural visit to Phipps Conservatory. These experiences foster critical thinking, collaboration, curiosity, and inspiration while helping students envision future academic and career pathways. Different field trips are offered to various age groups throughout the school year, ensuring developmentally appropriate, equitable access to enriching learning opportunities that support Lakeview’s commitment to excellence beyond the classroom.
