Creek Connections

Students in grade 6 monitor James Run, a local creek that empties into Lake Wilhelm by performing monthly water tests including the pH, dissolved oxygen, phosphate level, total dissolved oxygen, turbidity, and other tests. Students record their data with Allegheny College. This has been an ongoing project for over a decade at Lakeview and the results from each test over that time period can be viewed.  Students are able to look at the data and draw conclusions.  All results are recorded online.   Allegheny College provides college students to oversee the testing.  Lakeview students also complete a research project and present their project at an annual symposium held on the campus of Allegheny College in April.
