Challenger Center for Space Science Education
Challenger Center
Students in grades 4 and 5 have previously participated in a space simulation conducted by the Challenger Center in Wheeling, West Virginia. Students prepare for the mission by researching comets, the moon, or Mars depending on the featured mission, conducting other space inquiries, and investigating the different careers that are utilized Upon arrival at the space center, students are divided into groups that work in mission control or in the space vehicle. Students switch assignments halfway through the mission so that they may experience both settings. This opportunity is based on availability. Lakeview participates with gifted students from other districts for this experience.
