The Academic Games League of America (AGLOA) provides gifted and high-achieving students with the opportunity to engage in rigorous, fast-paced academic competitions that promote critical thinking, collaboration, and intellectual risk-taking. Lakeview School District gifted students proudly participate in local Academic Games competitions held at Slippery Rock University from October through February, competing against students from across the region in a variety of challenging academic disciplines.

Students may compete in a wide range of games including On-Sets, LinguiSHTIKS, Equations, Presidents, Propaganda, Theme, and Current Events. Each game is designed to strengthen skills such as logic, reasoning, vocabulary, problem solving, content mastery, teamwork, and strategic thinking while fostering perseverance and confidence.

Students who earn an undefeated victory in one game qualify to advance to the Pennsylvania State Academic Games Competition, held annually in March at Grove City College. Those who achieve undefeated victories in two different games earn the opportunity to compete at the National Academic Games Competition, hosted each year in a different location across the United States. The 2026 National Competition will be held in Charlotte, North Carolina, from April 24–27.

Lakeview students have a rich tradition of excellence in Academic Games, with participation and success at the local, state, and national levels spanning more than thirty years. These competitions not only celebrate academic talent but also help students build lifelong skills in leadership, teamwork, and disciplined thinking—hallmarks of Lakeview’s commitment to gifted education.
