Access to the district’s network systems through school resources is a privilege, not a right. The network systems, as well as the User accounts and information, are the property of the district.
USERS SHALL HAVE NO EXPECTATION OF PRIVACY IN ANYTHING THEY CREATE, STORE, SEND, DELETE, RECEIVE, OR DISPLAY ON OR OVER THE DISTRICT’S NETWORK SYSTEMS, INCLUDING THEIR PERSONAL FILES OR ANY OF THEIR USE OF THE DISTRICT’S NETWORK SYSTEMS.
The district reserves the right to monitor, track, log access and otherwise inspect any or all aspects of its network systems’ use and to monitor and allocate fileserver space.
Lakeview School District holds data and security in high regard and takes action to ensure that our students' data is handled securely in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
Parents and guardians want assurances that personal information and data about their children is secure and protected by our school district. Many questions are arising with the use of the internet, mobile apps, cloud computing, online learning and new technologies used to deliver exciting new education services.
At Lakeview School District, we want to be clear about collected student data, and how it is used. We take the obligation of protecting student information seriously and want to be transparent about student information collected and how it is used.
Lakeview School District collects limited data for various reasons to support staff, students and parents. Personally identifiable data is protected as required by State and Federal law. Lakeview School District's student data system is ESD. Its Data Protection and Privacy Notice can be found here.
In addition to the data collected by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, Lakeview School District generally collects and maintains the following on its data systems:
- Household Information Including: Parent Name, Address, Email Address, Phone Numbers
- Student Attendance Data, Fees, Communication Records, Medical Information related to Health Conditions, Vision & Hearing Screening, Immunizations and family doctor
- Student Learning Accommodations (IEP &GIEP), Bus & Transportation, Discipline Incident details, Learning Activities, Transcripts & Grades as well as assessments.
- Student Schedules, Library books and media borrowed, Locker assignment and technology usage logs.
Teachers use data to understand when students are doing well and when they need help with instruction.
Students require feedback so that they can continue to improve or gain support.
Parents require data to know how they can support their children at home and in their studies.
School officials and PDE need to know how the district is performing and make changes to help students succeed.

G Suite for Education
Lakeview fully complies with regulations regarding student data privacy and has chosen the Google G-Suite for Education Platform and Chromebooks for use as an educational tool to improve instruction as a whole both onsite and remotely.
The G Suite for Education (formerly called Google Apps for Education) core services are the heart of Google's educational offering to schools. The core services currently are Gmail (including Inbox by Gmail), Calendar, Classroom, Jamboard, Contacts, Drive, Docs, Forms, Groups, Sheets, Sites, Slides, Talk/Meet and Vault.
YouTube services are restricted in the educational platform with a teacher based approval method in place such that teachers can view and approve content relevant and age appropriate to their students for use in Google Classroom activities.
Other apps may also be deemed effective and necessary for educational purposes and will be listed below, when added to the learning suite, for parent review and approval.
Any parent that does not wish to have their student/s participate in this electronic learning program, which is inclusive of the listed apps making up the program, can and must alert the district in writing to request alternate methods of learning and return any such school based technology they may be in possession of. On receipt of notification, Lakeview will deactivate any accounts and delete any data stored on behalf of the student in Google Drive or associated programs where applicable.
