Dr. Gary Baxter, 1974 Graduate of Lakeview High School
Dr. Gary Baxter is a 1974 graduate of Lakeview High school where he excelled at basketball. Gary earned a number of degrees following graduation: Bachelor of Science in Dairy Production from Penn State in 1980, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania in 1984, and an MS in Physiology/Pharmacy from University of Georgia in 1988. He was selected as the Most Outstanding Dairy Science Student at Penn State in 1980 and was awarded an Internship at UGA in 1984. While completing his MS at UGA, he also finished his residency in Large Animal Surgery. Leaving UGA, he was posted as a professor of Veterinary Medicine at Colorado State University and was board certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1989. Dr. Baxter was elected president of that organization in 2015. He started his writing career and earned the award for the Best Research Publication in the Journal for Veterinary Surgeons in 1989. He taught equine surgery and lameness for twenty years at CSU, but in 2010 he returned to UGA to supervise the building of a new veterinary teaching hospital at the school. Between the two schools, he instructed hundreds of veterinary students and mentored dozens of interns and residents. In spite of his busy lecture schedule and surgery, he published over one hundred peer reviewed articles in veterinary journals and published four veterinary textbooks. In support of his writing, Dr. Baxter spoke at numerous professional forums in Europe, Central and South America on equine surgery and horse lameness. He retired from UGA in January 2021 as the Associate Dean of Clinical Services. While at CSU, Dr. Baxter served as a HS basketball referee for 10 years and worked with the local 4H chapter for eight years. Dr. Baxter is a professor emeritus at both CSU and UGA.
Dr. Baxter met his wife, Margaret, during his residency at UGA, and they were married in 1987. They have three daughters: Allison, Katherine and Mary Rose.
Marc Ellis Holland, 1986 Graudate of Lakeview High School
Marc Ellis Holland is a 1986 graduate of Lakeview High School. He furthered his education at Point Park University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Performing Arts Dance in 1991 and was a recipient of a scholarship with the Iowa Ballet Company in 1990. Marc is currently an MFA graduate student in dance at SUNY Brockport. Marc Ellis Holland is a Broadway and touring veteran whose credits include Cats, Radio City Christmas Spectacular, Jesus Christ Superstar, Guys and Dolls and La Cage Aux Folles. He has performed with Deca Dance Company of New York City and Kineolab in Rochester, NY. Internationally, he has performed in Japan, Austria, Hungary, and Mexico with both Cats and Deca Dance Company tours. Marc also has experience in the television industry, appearing in commercials and industry events throughout his career, as well as appearing in summer stock at Pittsburgh Playhouse and West Virginia Theater in Morgantown, WV. Marc has over one hundred choreography credits for multiple community theaters including Fiddler on the Roof, La Cage Aux Folles, Sweet Charity, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Gypsy, White Christmas, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Rent, Cats, Children of Eden, and Cabaret.
Marc Ellis Holland is Cecchetti certified and has been a faculty member for the Cecchetti International Ballet Camp. Mr. Holland conducts master classes and workshops for thousands of students and teachers in almost a dozen states. He was previously on the faculty of Clarion University of Pennsylvania, where he taught dance and choreographed shows. Currently an Associate Professor of Dance at Rochester Institute of Technology National Technical Institute for the Deaf, he also has taught for multiple dance studios in the Rochester, NY area, collaborated with the Rochester Gay Men’s Chorus, performed on stage at Rochester Fringe Fest. He was selected to perform in “So You Think You Can Choreograph” in Saratoga Springs, NY.
Marc currently resides in Rochester, NY with his husband, Ted.
Marlene (Baxter) Stauffer, 1977 Graduate of Lakeview High School
Marlene (Baxter) Stauffer is a 1977 graduate of Lakeview High School. After graduation, she attended Penn State University, graduating in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science from the College of Agriculture. To this day, she continues to be an avid Penn State football fan.
She began her career in the mid-1980’s as a lab technician and quickly moved into the role of Quality Manager and then Director of Quality and Research and Development of the Blommer Chocolate Company. Mrs. Stauffer is the Corporate Director of Regulatory for Blommer Chocolate Company, the largest roaster of cocoa beans in North America. She leads their four facilities located in Pennsylvania, California, Illinois, and Canada. Marlene is a respected leader in the Food Industry and has presented at various conferences and is an instructor for various industry education courses. She has served in leadership roles on the following boards: PMCA Chairman of the Board, President of the Food Industry Group (FIG), Ag Council of Penn State, and Food Allergen Resource and Research Board. She was the recipient of the Marie Kelso award from the Professional Manufacturers Confectioners Association, Stroud Jordan Award from the American Association of Candy Technologists and will be inducted into the Candy Hall of Fame Class of 2024 this October. Her commitment to educating others in the field is unparalleled. Mrs. Stauffer has served as a volunteer for soccer, Sunday School teacher, and participated in the Cancer Walk for Life.
Marlene and her husband, Brook Stauffer, reside in Barto, PA. They have two daughters with whom they enjoy traveling and hiking.
Mr. Caleb Stright, 2001 Graduate of Lakeview High School
Mr. Caleb Stright is a 2001 graduate of Lakeview High School. He furthered his education at Carnegie Mellon University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Professional Writing with an additional major in Creative Writing. He began his career in 2005 as a reporter for the Record Argus in Greenville, PA. Caleb was promoted to the design desk and then the news editor. In 2010, Mr. Stright took over as the managing editor for the Record Argus, covering local news in Mercer County. Throughout his years at the Record Argus, Caleb has organized and hosted events relating to the county’s challenges with drugs and volunteer fire departments. Caleb has covered countless stories for the Lakeview area. He was an honoree for the 2016 “Forty Under 40 in Mercer County,” sponsored by the County’s four Chambers of Commerce and UPMC Horizon. Mr. Stright was also named the March 2019 Greenville Resident of the Month. Running 40 miles and raising $5,000 for Alzheimer’s research was a memorable experience for Caleb as this was something personal for his family.
Caleb and his wife, Anna, live in Greenville, PA. They have a son, Hudson, and a daughter, Olive.
