Alumni Hall of Fame 2018

  • Ms. Emily Drew
    Ms. Emily Drew was the valedictorian of the Lakeview High School Class of 2000.  She graduated from Davidson College with high honors, and she also graduated from the City University of London.  Emily was awarded fellowships from Weidenbaun Center on the Economy, Government and Public Policy and the Center for International Private Enterprise.  She also received the European Commission Grant, Lily Foundation Grant in Taipei, and the Freeman Foundation Grant. She is a journalist and field producer at MSNBC, New York.  Ms. Drew launched Al Jazeera America in New York and the Western Hemisphere Operations of China Central TV. In 2017, she won the National Academy of Television Emmy Award for her work as the producer of the Rachel Maddow Show’s coverage of the Flint Crisis.  She resides in Long Island, New York.

    Major General Mari Kaye Eder
    Major General Mari Kaye Eder is a 1971 graduate of Lakeview High School.  She graduated with honors from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania with both a Bachelor and Master of Arts in English.  She later earned a Master of Strategic Studies degree from the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. In 2013, Major General Eder received a Doctor of Humane Letters degree from Edinboro University.   Maj. Gen. Eder has commanded at every level in her 36 years with the United States Army. At the time of her retirement, she was the highest-ranking woman officer in the Army Reserve. She received the Vatican Award of the Knight, Grand Cross of the Order of Saint Gregory the Great from Pope Benedict XVI in 2011.  Her other military awards include a Distinguished Service Medal, the Legion of Merit with Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Meritorious Service Medal with Five Oak Leaf Clusters. Major General Eder is a trustee with the U.S. Army War College Foundation, Honorary Member of the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General Corps, and author of Leading the Narrative; The Case for Strategic Communication.  She was named to the Communication Hall of Fame at Edinboro University, inducted into the Army Public Affairs Hall of Fame, and received the Joe Galloway Lifetime Achievement Award from the U.S. Army Public Affairs Association.  She resides in Colonial Heights, Virginia.

    Dr. William L. Seddon
    Dr. William L. Seddon is a 1977 graduate of Lakeview High School.  He graduated from The Pennsylvania State University, Slippery Rock University with a Master of Science in Biology, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Master of Science in Physiology, and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Doctor of Philosophy in Physiology.  Dr. Seddon is professor of biology at Frostburg State University and the Director of the Museum of Natural History at FSU. He is also the STEM Outreach Coordinator at Frostburg State University, which provides STEM field trips for elementary school children in Western Maryland and surrounding areas.   As part of the Health Professions Advisory Committee, Dr. Seddon advises students who plan to pursue degrees in medicine and other health fields. He is a member of the P20 Council of Western Maryland, a group that explores current trends and opportunities to support public schools through teacher education programs and provides STEM education opportunities to public school teachers.  Seddon has also been the Regional Commissioner of AYSO Region 1090 and a soccer coach. He is married to Robin Seddon, and they reside in Frostburg, Maryland.

    Mr. David C. Hoye
    Mr. David C. Hoye was a former law, psychology, economics, and history teacher at Lakeview High School.  He graduated from Wilmington High School in 1963 and later attended Slippery Rock University to earn his Bachelor and Master degrees in Education. Mr. Hoye invested 38 years of devoted service to the Lakeview School District; he was a teacher, president of the Lakeview Education Association, chief negotiator for LEA, member of the Lakeview Long Range Planning Committee, Literary Art Guild mentor, and basketball coach.  The highlight of Dave’s athletic achievement was a trip to Hershey in 1982 for the girls’ basketball state championship game. Mr. Hoye was inducted into the Mercer County Sports Hall of Fame in 2014. He was an active member of Trinity Presbyterian Church of Mercer where he served as a member of session, deacon, and head usher. He participated in a Habitat for Humanity project in 2008. Dave married Judith Jackson Hoye on August 4, 1979.  They had one son, Matthew Hoye, a Lakeview High School graduate.
